Title: One More Night (Your Ex-Lover Remains Dead) Artist: Stars 150 plays

chantingchamber:

Stars, an amazing Canadian band that takes my heart in their hands and control it. Their muse is just so heart wrenching, I can’t exactly explain how much I love them! Their 2004 album “Set Yourself On Fire” is one of my favourite albums, and will forever get me through a bad day, or just life in general.

Their song “One More Night” is seriously haunting, and obviously states a one night stand that turns out to be a really emotional type relationship between both parties doing this one night stand. Although, I this somewhat does not relate to me, parts of the lyrics do - such as

The bed is unmade, like everything is

Dark little heaven at the top of the stairs

Take me like that, ruin it all

Then build it again, by the light in the hall”

When I first listened to this song, I didn’t really appreciate it, not until I actually related to it. Once I listened to it, over and over again, it broke me down, and kept on doing it. I then realized that every time I broke down, it was a new start to a new day/month/year. This individual song kept me going, and although it isn’t a happy song, the miserableness of the song lighted up the “new” to my day.

Not only is this song emotionally unsettling, the song itself is really great. I really like the sound, the simplicity of it tops it off, including Torquill Campbell’s low pitch and Amy Millan’s high pitch, makes a good duet!

All in all, Stars is a really great band, and they’ve made a name of themselves, you can see why when you listen to this song.

So, listen to this song, and break down with me, then after move on.
